Discussing 2-1 1-2 in chat and a new member asked for clarification. I know lots of us do this trade in variations so here's my take on it, comments welcomed!

In a match where the two teams are reasonably evenly matched you can more often than not get some mileage out of backing 1-2 and 2-1. This is best done before the match or at half time if still 0-0 (you'll get better odds but obviously some games will not be tradeable with this strat). The odds, if the two teams are closely matched, will be close so you can either dutch them or level stake them.

After a goal is scored you might be able to get a small green there and then esp if dogs score first, but my preference is to hold fire for a while to see if an equaliser or second goal is forthcoming. A second goal obviously kills one trade so you are probably best advised to either take the best you can or consider covering other scorelines around the current score.

What you are really hoping for is an equaliser - 1-1 is 'appy days for this trade as you can immediately take a nice green.

I very often put a back on 1-1 when doing this strat - this gives options all round except in the case of two very quick goals for one team, or 0-0 of course, and effectively provides some cover against 1-0 and 0-1.

Sometimes I'll also back 2-2 if still goalless at half time, for the simple reason you can often get a nice green on that scoreline for little outlay. If the score gets to 1-2 or 2-1 then you really have got all bases covered for a very nice return.

The beauty of this trade, when it works well, is that £5 bets CAN produce great returns, and even £2 is worthwhile, so it's an ideal starter strategy for people setting out.

I would agree the closely matched teams for sure. My preference when covering the 2-1, 1-2 when a goal is scored, is to immediately trade out of the scoreline where the team has not scored. Obviously letting the scoring side trade run (hoping for 1-1). However, if I'm watching the game, I will trade out of this scoreline too depending on what I am seeing...

Nothing straight forward in trading football is there? Always options, always choices...fascinating stuff...

Hi guys

Happy days indeed in the chatroom last night (alantb in chat room) as all three copa matches ended in 2-1.

Nice post gun and for me the richer pickings of the 1-2/2-1 are attractive, rather than green up i do tend to wait (not always though) to see if I can get the c/s up. Where I find it difficult is when there are early goals and I start to cover other scores, it is very easy to get unravelled and end up in a sea of pain. That is why I like to fish for the c/s and keep the stake covered as much as poss. a small loss or scratch is no problem as when the 2-1/1-2 comes in, booooom! Sometimes easier said than done though and that is where the chat room comes in, even if you are not contributing then at least watching what others are doing can be a great help.

Cheers

Al

The chat room is improving ever more as members are becoming more familiar with trading and are 'opening up' with good questions (and getting good responses), as well as a little 'kidding' along.

It's really, really good to see that that there are traders who are willingly describing what they are doing...and why they are doing it, in both pre-match and in game trading. I think we are all learning from one another, and I'm certainly building a portfolio of football strategies...long may it continue.

Good thread guys, and yes the members chat room is improving all the time and will continue to do so.

My take on the adster aperitif 2-1 is I look for a side trading at around 1.70 to 2.50, preferably home side. Sometimes I take inusrance on the unders sometimes not. IF I do it's normally a 20% stake on my 2-1 price ie if I back 2-1 with £100 I will stick £20 on under 1.5.

0-0 at half time I will trade out of both for a loss.

1-0, I will either let it run or reduce some red liability at lesser prices.

0-1 to dog, I will reduce red and lay fave in NG market. IF dog gets another it will be a scratch trade. Fave scores we're in the money. Remember, by laying a big fave in NG market the price can be as low as 1.50 to 1.60. Plus by doing this, the 2-1 price will also come in for the next 10 mins..........
:D

Hi Adster just reading your last reply how much would you lay on the NG market. I had a go at this today using the Liverpool v Reading game and had to trade out for a £26 loss but you cant win them all. I am also havin some trouble with the XT starter strategy Ive done exactly as the video suggests but it seems that the there is not much of a reduction on the unders market maybe i need to work on my match selection any help is graetly appreciated

Hi Blurt,

I have just started to try and use the XT starter strat as well. So far it appears that if the u2.5 is favourite then it will site around 1.9 or less just before the KO. After KO the price doesn't come down much.

However, I traded the Barcenlona game last night where o2.5 was the favourite. Before the match the u2.5 odds lengthened and after KO they came down a lot which lead to a profit made after deducting the 1st goal stake. I didn't get in at the top of the market but still managed to make some money.

I have posted in the new traders section about this, maybe one of the guys can give us some more details in there about the XT starter strat.

Cheers
Colin
