Hi

I am currently trying to get my head round trading match odds with correct score. I gather that you basically make a decision on what match odds selection you want then back the scores that can work against you.

So, my current dilema that I want to get over is what choice to make in the correct score market. If you lay a choice in MO then you have a lot less to cover in CS but you have a bigger liability to check in MO. If you back a selection in MO then you have a lot more organising to do in CS.

I think that laying the draw would lead to the least amount of 'management' in CS but I may be wrong.

Can you guys give me your thoughts on this strategy and how you decide what to back/lay in MO? What odds do you look to trade at? What sort of stats do you check for the teams prior to placing the trades? Is there anything in the CS market I should be looking at?

Thanks for your time

Colin

Keep in mind that it's not only the MO market that you can trade with CS...you can trade any other market...it always comes back down to taking a position and trading around that position as the match goes into play.

It's the initial position that is key to all this I feel. Do the homework, study the stats and look at team sheets/team changes etc. Take what you believe is the the most likely outcome for the match and select the market that gives you the best odds to support your opinion....as well as choosing the market that allows you to trade appropriately should the trade go against you...

Sadly, there is no substitute for actually 'doing it'! Just keep the stakes low until you are comfortable with whatever strats you are learning about. Once you become totally familiar with the strats that you've chosen, then you can begin to increase your stakes/profits (but slowly.... :) ).

I like to look for games where one team is at least two goals ahead of the other at HT; 3-1 is the best score line I look for (less covering I have to do). What I do then, is LAY the team that is leading on the MO market, which covers all the draw scores and the score lines of the team that is behind; it also gives me much less liability.

In the CS market, I then work out a dutch (using a spreadsheet) that covers the liability on the MO market and gives me a profit. I need to cover the current score, I will also try to cover AUQ, and then as many of the next possible score lines as possible for the leading team that still gives me a profit.\

The downside? One of the score lines you don't cover being the result of the game. For example, if the current score is 3-1, score lines I would try to cover are:

3-1
3-2
AUQ

(that's why 3-1 is easiest <g>) if the score is 2-0, score lines to cover would be:

2-0
2-1
3-0
3-1
3-2
AUQ

Note: you most likely will not be able to cover all possible score lines above; you would have to pick the most likely ones and admittedly there is a bit of praying involved). Since the one thing that usually kills you with this strat is the low price of the AUQ when one team is leading, you could back it for smaller stakes pre-game, when the price is higher, but then you are almost committing yourself to it.

I'm intrigued by this, especially the 3-1 scenario. If you lay the team winning 3-1 and dutch 3-1, 3-2 and AUQ,(as you say 3-3 being covered by the lay on team winning) I can't see how you can lose. I suppose the fly in the ointment is the AUQ will be very, very short. First time I see a 3-1 I'll have a good shufty at prices and see if it is possible.
Now I know someone more experienced is going to shoot me down.

AUQ will be less then evens at 3-1 score i think, so dutching it will require alot of money...
