As we are building up football strategies, it makes sense to 'name' them as a form of 'shorthand' so that everyone knows what strategy it is that is being discussed, used 'live' etc. in the Chat Room.

However, naming the strategies leads to problems in itself as people often ask the question 'What is the ****** strategy?

So, the objective of utilising a shorthand when in the Chat Room to save time, becomes self defeating as not all members know what the hell the shorthand represents!

It does not help that we actually have no 'one place' where all the strategies are gathered together and explained in full.

So...remembering how the Glossary was started (not forgotten)...I'm thinking that we need some sort of pdf Manual that can be frequently updated with a 'Glossary of Terms and Strategies'.

However, it's still not as straight forward as it may seem. For example, the strategies themselves need to be broken down into areas...

1. When strong Fav (between x and y odds) at home, and again when away.

2. Fav (between x and y odds) at home and again when away.

3. Evenly matched teams (between x and y odds).

Another area that I'm looking at is how the odds move in relation to the above situations...the idea here being how to try to assess the market may move after a goal. Thus giving an opportunity to 'jump in' at the head of the q at the right odds level.

Trying to simplify things to give us an 'edge' is quite a complex problem...however, it's a problem worth resolving ! So...what I'm saying I guess, is that I'm more than happy to contribute to a manual but it's going to require a lot of input from members...for example, which strategies are the recognised ones that work under particular circumstances?

The starting point for all of this of course is whether or not there is an agreement that a manual is needed? Who will produce it? How will it be produced? etc etc.

Any constructive criticism, opinions additions to the above, most welcome.

Sounds like a great idea Dak. I'm constantly trying to update my personal word docs with strategies and it take me quite a bit work going through old threads etc

The main thing would be the "editor" of the book. For instance I could put forward a strat that has worked for me, but you may see a hole in it instantly as to why it won't work long term. We could end up with a big pile of crap to sift through!

As I said, a fantastic idea, but it seems like the work put in to edit and update it could be immense.

Oh aye, and email it to me when your finished ;)

Very good sugestion Dac, Im taking notes and my papers are al over the house by now. It would be great if this could be solved.

How about a section in the forum, well categorized etc for this. Wouldn't that be a good thing?
A member starts a thread about a strat under the right category and other members will fill in with help and suggestions of how to improve that strat.
The threadowner is responsible to keep the first post in the thread updated with the new rules etc as it develops.

Just a thought, maybe there is another better way to solve this but for sure it would help a lot to get everything in one place.

Bingo and I are working on a document explaining what the strats are and acronym's etc. Definitely a good idea which will save time and use up less space in the chat room.
