Testing a strategy on Betfair historical data

Postby tpanos on Wed Jul 07, 2010 12:51 pm

Hi,
I am a new member in the forum. My name is Theodore and I live in Athens Greece.
I am trading soccer games. I am using MarketFeeder Pro as software.
I am trading for 3 months, and on test mode before that for 4 months.
I base my trade on strong statistical indexes derived from BetFair historical betting data.
So, the refinement of the strategies (exit and entry points etc) is pre applied (and emulated) on 15.765 inplay matches that BetFair supported live during the past 2 years.
Before testing a strategy in future games (i.e. via a bot), it should be better to try test it in a lot of past games.
I am actually trying to analyze strat by strat, if these strats might be profitable with some specific parameters.
The trade I am trying is purely statistical, based on strong indexes (that I create) from BetFair historical betting data.
Did anyone of you use MarketFeeder Pro for soccer trading?
Is anybody trying a similar approach?

Thanks for your time.

Hi Theodore, and welcome to our little corner of the www!

I'm probably the wrong person to answer as I am the least likely to use this method. All I will say is that if your paper trading and live trading is profitable then you've obviously found a little niche - and good luck to you!

I know a couple of the guys rely quite heavily on stats and indices - maybe one of them can be of more use to you?
