Hi,
Does anyone do much trading on the over/under 2.5 markets pre kick off (2-3 days before the game).

I'm fairly comfortable spotting likely movements on the correct score market days in advance, but not too sure about the 2.5 market. Is there certain criteria to look out for, e.g - Should the fave have certain odds in the match odds, or should the overs/unders be set at certain odds?

Just having trouble identifying whether the over 2.5 will be likely to move out or in and same goes for under.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

you dont need to do it so far in advance, there probably isnt enough liquidity to get a decent sized bet matched. I regularly pre trade on Unders (2.5) there are regular patterns which you can see.. if there is an early steam then there will inevitably be a drift upto kick off (Arsenal game last night being an example) Sometimes there is just a late steam (Inter game a few days ago went from about 2.08 to 1.96 in 1min). The thing to do is to try to determine the high price if backing or low price if laying (I would probably always recommend backing for unders as thats the natural movement of the market when no goals are scored). I only really get involved about 2 or 3 hours before kickoff depending on what I see in terms of price spread (prices which trades have been done) and the weight of money then I usually place in a bet a couple of ticks higher and keep an eye on it, if price is moving up then move your bet out, if you get taken and it looks like it will go up further then you can hedge out or bet again when you think it has peaked as it will probably drop just before kickoff.

I will typically put in bets of around 200-400 as this will get you decent return on a few ticks. you really need to be out before kick off though as what will happen is that a lot of lay bets will flood in as people exit their trades and price will go against you for first few min, if a goal goes in then you are toast. Last night on the 2 CL and 2EPL games I made about 20Eur which isnt a huge amount but it was only 4 games and its limited risk. if trade does go against you before kick off I may sometimes hedge 75% for loss and leave 25% to try to scratch this is risky but I will only do it if I see game live and its teams who I think wont score early

Hi Scotty,
Many thanks for the speedy response and you've given me some excellent info there. I quite like this type of trading as like you say its limited risk and as long as you're out before kick off you're not gonna get stung by a goal. I think i'll look more closely at the unders and see where i can go from there and maybe try nick a couple of ticks on tonights games :)

Once again thanks very much for the reply :)

How many ticks do you usually get, or look to get?

depends.... sometimes you get a nice steam and I will take it before it goes backup, but problem is I dont sit in front of markets whole time so you can come back to your pc and be in the red. I am happy if I can make 3 or more ticks
